Next 'Call of Duty' Will Return the Franchise Back to World War II
Official unveil on April 26.

Call of Duty‘s next installment will return the franchise back to its World War II origins. Dubbed Call of Duty: WWII, the new game follows on the heels of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare which was set in a futuristic world at war and did not live up to expectations for fans of the series. “Infinite Warfare had a ton of great gameplay innovations, but it also had a setting that didn’t appeal to all of our fans,” said Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg. Returning to the developer role will be Sledgehammer Games who headed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.
The game will officially be unveiled via livestream on April 26 at 1 p.m. EST.
