Snapchat Introduces New Searchable Stories Feature
Featuring over one million stories collected via machine learning.
Snapchat is making a fundamental change with the latest addition to its app: searchable stories. Using machine learning, the Evan Spiegel-led social media giant will now allow users to search over one million stories culled from photo and video submissions to the “Our Story” feature. Those machine-driven offerings will then appear alongside the app’s employee-curated stories.
As Business Insider points out, the move is undoubtedly profit-driven: though Snapchat isn’t planning to immediately monetize search, the addition opens up future advertising opportunities for the company, which officially went public earlier this month.
Check out the searchable stories in action below and look for the update now on the latest versions of both the iOS and Android apps.
