It’s been a long three-year wait but Polyphony Digital’s next Gran Turismo title is finally hitting closed beta, a much needed step closer to the release of the final version. After dropping off a 4K teaser in December, the Japanese developers have announced that Gran Turismo Sport closed beta will roll out on March 17 for PS4 owners in the U.S. while users in Europe and elsewhere will receive invites at a later date.

According to the announcement, “Participants will be able to choose from a select rotation of cars and tracks each day to race online against others during the Beta phases. Track and car selections will vary during this period, and we made sure to offer different race class categories and course configurations to properly test our GT fans.” A Driver Profile will also be available for the first time and function as a rating system with Sportsmanship Rating (player’s behavior and track manners) and Driver Rating (overall speed and performance) to ensure balance and competitiveness throughout the game. The servers will reportedly only be open during specific times across the day at first and gradually build up to a wider beta testing phase.

Check out the 4K trailer for closed beta above and if you live in the U.S., try your luck by signing up here.
