Brooklyn Nets Will Feature Infor Logo on Jerseys and Twitter Reacts
Are Nets fans in-for another disappointing season?
Following the 76ers, Kings and Celtics, the Brooklyn Nets have become the fourth NBA team to announce that its 2017-2018 jerseys will feature a sponsorship patch on the left shoulder. The $8 million USD partnership was made public earlier today via NBA.com.
Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment (BSE) and Infor, a global leader in industry-specific cloud software, have formed a fully-integrated partnership that will see cutting edge data science applied to Brooklyn Nets team performance and fan marketing. The wide-ranging partnership covers four major areas: team performance, fan experience, team business operations, and jersey patch sponsorship.
Among the initiatives, Infor will develop a “one-stop digital hub designed to help Nets General Manager Sean Marks and the team’s basketball operations department generate stronger results on the court.” However most importantly to fans of the franchise, a clashing red-and-white Infor logo will soon be placed on all player jerseys, in addition to heavy branding throughout Barclays Center.
Whether you like it or not, jersey ads are coming to the NBA, just as they have been so prevalent in the world of football. It is what it is, and if it puts more money in the pockets of the players, we’re all for it. However the least these teams can do is make sure it blends well with the jersey, just as the Celtics did by turning the GE logo green and white.
Here’s how fans reacted to the news on Twitter:
I hate to infor……..m you that these are horrible. https://t.co/ZCQmuB1Hnw

@BrooklynNets @Infor please change it to a black logo. Unless it’s meant to signify where all Nets fans are getting stabbed in the heart

I get that the red with white is the Infor logo, but is there nothing the Nets can do. Looks much better in Nets colours on white jersey pic.twitter.com/jOR6aIq4tO
