Few have done more to shape skateboarding’s image over the past two decades than Evan Hecox. The longtime art director for Chocolate Skateboards, Hecox’s work is instantly recognizable thanks to his transformation of landscape photographs into some of Chocolate’s most famous graphics. New York-based Dress Code recently linked up with the artist to produce a behind-the-scenes documentary on his process, shadowing Hecox as he swung by Dennis Hopper’s grave site before setting out to “drive around and just find strange stuff to photograph.”
You can check out the four-minute short film, The Long Way, above in its entirety while a Hecox exhibition of the same name is set to hit Joshua Liner Gallery this Thursday, February 9, and remain on display through March 11.
