Netflix & DreamWorks Partner for Six Animated Series in 2018
Including the follow-up installments of Trollhunters and Tales of Arcadia.
Netflix and DreamWorks Animation Television have plans to release six new original series in 2018. The first series to be released will be Trolls: The Beat Goes On, which will pick up after the events of the Trolls film, set to premiere January 19. The ‘80s girl power icon She-Ra is set to receive a modernization for a generation of young fans that celebrates female friendship and empowerment, lead by the warrior princess herself.
The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants is another series adapted from its movie counterpart this year that follows kids Harold and George, as well as their mean principal Mr. Krumpp in his adventures as the delusional hero Captain Underpants. This year’s Boss Baby will receive an adaptation as well. It sees the baby and Tim continue to navigate between life as a professional toddler. Original series Harvey Girls follows Audrey, Lotta, and Dot as best friends that aim to keep their neighborhood of Harvey Street, a place where you never grow up, a place that always feels like Saturday.
Lastly, both Trollhunters and Tales of Arcadia will see second installments in a Part 2 and 3 Below series, respectively. The former is a continuation of Guillermo del Toro’s award-winning series, which is poised to conclude with its third season. The latter is the second installment in Tales of Arcadia‘s trilogy and features two royal teen aliens alongside their bodyguard who flee a surprise takeover of their home planet by an evil dictator and crash land in Arcadia. The trilogy will end with Wizards, set to debut in 2019.
