Trump Asks Chinese President to Help Resolve LiAngelo Ball Shoplifting Case
Likely to receive up to 20 days of house arrest.

U.S. President Donald Trump recently asked Chinese president Xi Jinping for help resolving a shoplifting case involving three UCLA basketball players: LiAngelo Ball, Cody Riley and Jalen Hill. The trio is currently being held in China after being caught and arrested for stealing sunglasses from a Louis Vuitton store.
According to reports, Trump reached out to the Chinese president just one day after the arrests were made. Xi noted that the athletes would be treated “fairly and expeditiously” and that a resolution will be coming very soon as all charges have been reduced. There’s no word yet on what kind of resolution will be reached, but if LiAngelo and the other two athletes are convicted, they could be facing up to 20 days of house arrest, which is much lighter than the original punishment of 3-10 years in prison.
