Nike is set to honor its founder Phil Knight with a special basketball tournament in Portland, Oregon. In honor of his 80th birthday, Arkansas, Butler, Connecticut, Duke, DePaul, Florida, Gonzaga, Michigan State, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Portland, Portland State, Stanford and Texas will all participant in the “PK80” showdown. During the competition, each squad will be outfitted with uniforms and footwear that reflect Knight’s personal style. Knight’s love for all-black outfits and sunglasses is translated to a selection of footwear, including Nike’s Kyrie 3, PG1, Kobe AD, and KD 10 models. Jordan Brand joins in on the fun via the Air Jordan 32 and Super.Fly 2017 to round out the selection.
Black graphics are incorporated into each uniform, in addition to its jock tag to present a color vs. color aesthetic amongst the teams. The women’s teams of Connecticut, Michigan State, Oklahoma and Oregon will also take part in the celebratory tourney.
Nike’s “PK80” Tournament is slated to take place between November 23 and 26 at the Moda Center and Veterans Memorial Coliseum, while the women’s will take place at Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene, Oregon.
