Netflix Debuts Official Trailer for Dee Rees' Southern Epic 'Mudbound'
Primed for the Oscars.
Netflix has released its first official trailer for Mudbound. Since debuting at the Sundance Film Festival, Mudbound has received rave reviews and is poised to be the streaming service’s first major Oscar contender. Based on Hillary Jordan’s novel of the same name and co-written and directed by Dee Rees, the film centers around two families — one white, one black — living on the same farm in the rural south post-World War II.
Earlier this year, Hulu‘s The Handmaid’s Tale became the first streaming show to win an Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series with Netflix looking to follow suit at the Oscars after Amazon won an award earlier this year for Manchester by the Sea. Check Mudbound on November 17 on Netflix. The film stars Mary J. Blige, Garrett Hedlund, Jason Mitchell and Carey Mulligan.
