IKEA Finally Responds to Kanye West's Collaboration Offer
The Swedish brand jests, “We could make you famous!”
IKEA has finally responded to Kanye West’s offer to collaborate with the Swedish furniture company. Despite being “flattered by Kanye West’s high interest,” an IKEA representative told CNBC on Monday that they are not looking to “collaborate at this point in time.” However, IKEA Australia recently posted a mockup of what the partnership could look like on Facebook along with a caption that will hopefully quell the rumor mill:
The company stated: “[Hey] Kanye, we’d love to see what you’d create…we could make you Famous!” Is this a fact or just sardonic IKEA banter?
West told BBC Radio One host Annie Mac that “I have to work with IKEA – make furniture for interior design, for architecture.” The rapper went on to say that students would relish in “a minimalist apartment inside of a college dorm” designed by Yeezy himself. “Yo IKEA, allow Kanye to create, allow him to make this thing because you know what, I want a bed that he makes, I want a chair that he makes – I want more products from Ye,” he added.
Last March, West dropped by IKEA‘s Älmhult, Sweden flagship and tweeted that he was “super inspired” by the trip. Hopefully, IKEA is now as equally-inspired as the rapper to get things going on a solid partnership that will provide affordable, Yeezy-inspired goods to the masses.
Super inspired by my visit to Ikea today , really amazing company… my mind is racing with the possibilities…
