John Elliott Brings Bright Colors and Patterns to Its 2017 Spring/Summer Collection
The uber-cool Los Angeles brand raises its tonal levels for the season.

The John Elliott brand has confidently evolved from its cozywear beginnings to a much more functionally-directed clothing brand. While usually known for its use of washed-cotton jerseys and pared-back color choices, the brand’s 2017 spring/summer collection looks to lighten things up both in terms of fabric and tonal use. A spectrum of greens, blues and pastel pinks keep the collection well in-focus for what’s trending right now in menswear. On the more experimental side, the brand bravely utilizes shinier, metallic fabrics as a way to give the collection a pinch of flair. There’s also the usual silhouettes in play for the range — hoodies, tapered trousers, bomber jackets and ripped denim are still there, but we get a sense that Mr. Elliot is reaching out beyond his comfort zone with draped knits, ponchos and more ambitious leather pieces. All-in-all, it’s good to see the brand ramp up the energy in its designs.
