Jaden Smith Is the First Solo Male to Appear on a 'NYLON' Magazine Cover
The Hollywood progeny explains why it’s important he wears skirts.

Actor, model, musician, designer, philosopher… the list goes on for Jaden Smith, who just happens to also be the first solo male to ever cover the magazine. NYLON’s cover story gets in-depth with the 17-year-old, gender-bending son of Will Smith. Smith talks about how he is able to transcend masculine norms and about the decision to wear skirts in everyday life, posting photos of himself modelling for Louis Vuitton and wearing nail polish to his Instagram account.
Smith tells NYLON:
“So, you know, in five years when a kid goes to school wearing a skirt, he won’t get beat up and kids won’t get mad at him. It just doesn’t matter. I’m taking the brunt of it so that later on, my kids and the next generations of kids will all think that certain things are normal that weren’t expected before my time.”
He goes on to describe his time on set for LV as “lit.” Read more online here and make sure to pick up the August issue of NYLON for the whole story.
