Dior Confirms Maria Grazia Chiuri as New Artistic Director
As the successor to Raf Simons.

Christian Dior’s CEO Sidney Toledano has confirmed that ex-Valentino co-designer Maria Grazia Chiuri will be replacing Raf Simons’ empty post at the storied fashion house. Chiuri will be the first woman to hold the job, with Toledano notin, “The idea of hiring a woman is something I had in mind, and this woman was the right one.” Chiuri‘s role at Dior marks the end of her long partnership with Pierpaolo Piccioli — the duo served as Valentino’s co-creative directors for eight years. Piccioli will continue designing for Valentino as its sole creative director. Chiuri is slated to start next week as Dior’s artistic director of women’s haute couture, RTW and accessory collections. Her first show will debut September 30 for the spring 2017 RTW season and her first couture show is scheduled for next January.
