BMW Pays Homage to Its Paris-Dakar Rally Heritage With a Retro Motorbike
A tribute to the German motor brand’s motocross glory days.
BMW is celebrating its motosport heritage and success with the release of a limited-edition R 80 G/S Paris-Dakar model motorbike inspired by the Belgian motorally legend Gaston Rahier’s 1985 bike. The bike bears Marlboro, Elf and Playboy branding, Paris-Dakar rally graphics on an alpine white base with hits of orange from the body and seat. The original bikes were relatively rare — only 2,975 were ever made — so this conceptual homage is a definite collector’s item.
