Ryan Gosling to Work With 'La La Land Director' on a Neil Armstrong Biopic
Based on James Hansen’s biography ‘First Man: A Life Of Neil A. Armstrong.’

La La Land was one of the biggest surprise hits of 2016. Critics gave the film high marks and commended director Damien Chazelle for his vision. Ryan Gosling, who also stars in the film has now been tapped to play Neil Armstrong in a biopic that Chazelle will direct. According to Variety, “The pic is based on James Hansen’s biography First Man: A Life Of Neil A. Armstrong and tells the story of NASA’s mission to land a man on the moon, focusing on Neil Armstrong and the years 1961-1969. A visceral, first-person account, the movie will explore the sacrifices and the cost — on Armstrong and on America — of one of the most dangerous space missions in history.”
Sources say that the film will start shooting in the first quarter of 2017.
