Those in music and film dominated.

As the year comes to a close, Forbes thought it would be a good idea to do a round up of the richest celebrities in America for 2016. As to no surprise, a lot of the names mentioned in the collective include personalities from music, film and television. Musicians such as Jon Bon Jovi and Madonna were top earners at $410 million USD and $560 million USD respectively for touring on the road. Dr. Dre, who sits at number 8 on the list with $710 million USD gets a mention for successful sales of his Beats headphones, while Jay Z at 11 with $610 million USD raked in the profits for his Roc Nation deals and the growth of TIDAL.
Other familiar names also include Michael Jordan, earning $1.2 billion with his sneaker deals. However, the top two spots belong to Hollywood heavyweights Steven Spielberg (No. 2 at $3.7 billion USD) and George Lucas (No. 1 at $4.6 billion USD). Spielberg brings in the dollar signs with his DreamWorks company and deals with Universal Studio theme parks. George Lucas on the other hand, lead the pack with money he earned from from selling his company to Disney in 2012.
