New Balance Hails a Cab for Its New London Flagship
The Hackney Carriage taxi inspires exclusive takes on the 1500 and 991.
New Balance recently opened a brand new flagship store in the heart of London and, to celebrate, the sportswear giant has crafted an exclusive two-pack for the location. Taking cues from the iconic Hackney Carriage taxi, the pack includes two different sneakers: a 1500 and a 991. Both come decked out in matte black leather and incorporate the likes of orange and silver details to reflect the taxi’s rooftop light and chrome bumper, respectively. “We wanted to celebrate the launch of the London store with something iconic, instantly recognizable and true to the city,” said Senior Footwear Designer at New Balance, Mark Godfrey. “I liken the shoe to a tourist souvenir… just much more desirable and better made!”
Crafted at New Balance’s Flimby factory and limited to just 150 pairs each, the unique 1500 and 991 are set to hit the Oxford Street location this Friday, October 28, at 9 a.m. local time.
