Although Virgil Abloh has dubbed his forthcoming 2016 spring/summer offering for OFF-WHITE the “Blue Collar” collection he said from a Parisian studio, “I call it Blue Collar, but I actually want to make white collar clothes.” The recent LVMH Prize nominee has expressed his commitment to shifting OFF-WHITE from a streetwear brand to a full-fledge menswear label, and this particular collection proves his vision. Amalgamating the low and high, the blue and white collar, this range starts with a juxtaposition of blue oxford panels from mailman uniforms with matte black tailored coats and shirts. The theme continues with deconstructed menswear items, fringed seams, bright gold accents, oversized yet flattering silhouettes, and the inclusion of Virgil’s early staple, T-shirts.
