In anticipation of the Air Jordan 7 Retro “Barcelona Days” release which is slated to be tomorrow, April 25, we take a closer look at the shoe dedicated to Spain’s involvement with the summer Olympic Games of 1992. The iconic silhouette has been rendered with a relatively playful colorway reminiscent of Barcelona’s seemingly vibrant culture with this idea being mirrored through the use of pop colors on the shoe’s outsole, tongue and heel counter. The upper has been constructed from a combination of light grey suede with an overlay of dark grey leather paneling forming the recognizably peaked design of the overall shoe. The fact that color has been used so sparingly amongst a predominantly grey scale palette suggests a link to the fact that the vibrant society and various cultural phenomena within Spain’s capital can be somewhat hidden at times — reserved for locals and those in the know. This particular rendition of the very shoes Michael Jordan wore throughout the 1992 tournament will be available at select retailers like Packer Shoes, and online at Nike for $190 USD.
