While speaking with Interview Magazine, Diplo revealed his plan to retire material under his aforementioned pseudonym, hoping to concentrate on Major Lazer and other projects. In the interview the Mad Decent founder also speaks on the current state of electronic music and the loss of integrity in music marketing, where artists can sell material off their persona rather than than the quality of their content. His new decision may be attributed to the collaborative success he has achieved working with fellow producer Skrillex, together forming Jack Ü. The interview was conducted by legendary producer, Rick Rubin.
“Well, I’m trying to actually retire Diplo material at this point. Diplo has a ceiling in Vegas, and I’m doing great there, but I’m so proud of Major Lazer- the way it sounds, the way it’s mixed. I feel like if I devote my time to that, it could grow.” said the Los Angeles-based producer and DJ.
