After delivering the noughties-favorite silhouette in bright green and grey colorways earlier this year, PUMA has reimagined its Mostro sneaker for the summer in all-new black and white finishes.

The classic footwear model, known for its spiked sole and versatile strap closure, originally launched in 1999, and PUMA only brought it back during its carnival-inspired runway show during February’s New York Fashion Week.

“It’s a weird shoe, to be honest,” PUMA’s creative director, Heiko Desens, previously told Hypebeast. “It’s so different to any other sneaker on the market.” Ultimately, he decided to bring it back to honor its 25th anniversary.

Notably, the silhouette’s name comes from the Italian word for “monster,” an accurate moniker for the double-take-worthy design’s sightly build. This latest batch includes two premium, perforated-leather versions with mixed black-and-white color blocking across their uppers. As usual, both models are equipped with the silhouette’s spiked sole and strap closure.

To ring in the launch, PUMA tapped French photographer and art director Nicolas Poillot, who’s heralded for his documentary image style, to shoot the updated models by the waters of Marseille, France.

PUMA’s summertime Mostros will become available to shop on Saturday, July 13, at select retailers worldwide and online. The shoe will be priced at £135 GBP. Take a look at the designs in the gallery above.
