Orion Sun Releases New Single "Mary Jane" and Announces 19-Date Tour
The singer-songwriter gets vulnerable on the new soft track.
Orion Sun has released the second single titled “Mary Jane” with an accompanying video as a part of her upcoming self-titled album Orion. The singer-songwriter also announced a 19-date North American tour that will hit major cities in the US and Canada this fall.
Like her previous single, the ethereal song delves into heartbreak but focuses on the coping mechanisms she used to get through it. Sun softly sings lyrics like, “Good day Mary Jane / Take this pain away” alluding to how she subsided her emotional pain when it felt never-ending. The soothing song continues the introspective, raw element of the upcoming album as she explores the different stages of heartbreak and coming into oneself.
“This song is about coping and facing fear head-on,” reflects Sun. “I lean hard on my vices when it feels like the world is falling from the sky. It helps you escape for a while, but no matter where you go, you can’t run from yourself. I had to face my fears eventually, and I’m glad I did.”
The accompanying visualizer for the single stars off at a bus stop before Sun moves to the forest where she connects with nature, an element intertwined with this album. Moving from tree to tree, the simplistic video features Sun dressed down in a button-down and pants to allow for the music and emotions to leave an impact on the viewer.
The Rising Sun Tour will kick off on October 20 in Santa Ana and hit San Francisco, Chicago, Montreal, Brooklyn and Atlanta, concluding in Los Angeles on November 23.
