Awake NY Enlists Shadi Perez for Reversible Jersey
Along with a Tibetan rug stamped with art by Shaun Crawford.
Awake NY is following up on its Ferg capsule with another release that taps into the music zeitgeist. The East Coast imprint has teamed up with music photographer Shadi Perez to curate a reversible mesh jersey that features one of his original photos, also complemented by a lineup of Globe Rugs created in partnership with Noreen Seabrook.
With credits spanning Nigo, Raekwon, Big Pun, Fat Joe, House of Pain and Pharrell, the Perez photograph printed on the entirety of the jersey’s silhouette is one of Danny Castro and Anthony Marshall – founders of go-to underground hip-hop hub in the 1990s, the Lyricist Lounge. The flip side of the jersey is stamped with green Awake NY lettering on the front, with a matching number seven underneath.

Arriving in tandem with the statement jersey is a bevy of vibrant globe-shaped Noreen Seabrook rugs. Signaling the streetwear outfitter’s first foray into rug-making, the rugs feature original artwork from Unisphere by East Harlem artist Shaun Crawford. They round out at three feet in diameter and are crafted fully from wool via traditional Tibetan weaving techniques.
