Update: With almost a year of anticipation, HUF’s return to its original Nike Air Max 1 designs is nearly here. After several teasers from the brand, it has now officially revealed all three pairs with their accompanying visual breakdowns. Presented in three colorways – HUF’s signature green that released in 2004, as well as the 2004 sample designs of orange and pink – the HUF team stayed as true to the originals as possible, save for the inclusion of its co-branding at the woven tongue tags and the sockliner. Included with each pair is a silver pendant of the OG HUF store’s beloved dog, Bones. In HUF’s official press release, the brand noted that “there will also be an ultra-rare release of individually numbered “Friends and Family” pairs, which will not be available for retail sale.”

Release for the HUF x Nike Air Max 1 collection begins on June 15 as all three pairs will be dropping via HUF at a price of $160 USD each, with the HUF Japan storefront carrying the pink and green pairs. From there, Nike SNKRS and a select list of retailers will stock the green and orange pairs with the orange colorway only available via stores in North America.

Update: After unveiling the project last week, HUF is back with another update on its forthcoming Air Max 1 collaboration, revealing another look at not only their recreation of the 2004 pair, but its two sample colorways of orange and pink as well. Release remains set for June 15 with a complete visual breakdown of the sneakers likely to arrive next week.

Update: Word of HUF and Nike revisiting their first Air Max 1 collaboration from 2004 hit the net last August. Now, after much waiting, HUF has taken to Instagram to confirm this by sharing a release date. On top of this, two additional colorways were teased via Instagram stories — including a previously-spotted “Brilliant Orange” take and another with pink accents — with both based on unreleased samples from the 2004 project’s initial design phase. Release for at least the OG colorway is set for June 15 with more details to come soon.

Original Story: HUF and Nike‘s relationship dates back to when the former was solely a San Francisco-based boutique posted up on Sutter St. Over the years, the two parties have collaborated on multiple footwear projects that involve silhouettes like the Air Force 1, Nike SB Dunk Low, Nike SB Dunk High, Air Trainer 1 and more. And next year, the duo is rumored to link back up to give one of its earliest offerings a reissue: the HUF x Nike Air Max 1.

Originally released in 2004, the pair is said to return in celebration of its 20th anniversary. Images of the retro pair have yet to surface, but it’s likely that they will be returning with all of its original design cues including the “Dark Apple” accents that referenced HUF‘s primary accent color, along with various shades of gray that alternate across the leather uppers and mudguards and suede overlays. When the original drop in ‘04 went down, the HUF team released 24 pairs of a Quickstrike version that was ornamented with the Benny Gold-designed HUF SF skyline embroidered on the back and a baseball icon on the interior to nod to the San Francisco Giants. You can learn more about the project here.

Sit tight as we receive more official details.

For other news, HUF’s Fall 2023 collection has been revealed.
