For nearly two decades, Activision has unveiled a new Call of Duty game each year. The newly-announced Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, however, will mark the first installment in the franchise since Microsoft acquired Activision. And thanks to a 10-year deal with Sony, it’ll be available on both Xbox and PlayStation come October 25.

Developed by Treyarch and Raven Software, Black Ops 6 pits players at the end of the Cold War in the early 1990s. As the US has cemented its status as a “political superpower,” a force has infiltrated the government, though anyone who goes against the grain is labeled as a traitor.

Players must go clandestine to investigate the conspiracy and ultimately wind up in a “tangled web of illicit activities, clandestine operations, and off-the-record missions.”

Tying in previous Black Ops installments, veteran Frank Woods is back, now in a wheelchair following a traumatic injury at the hands of drug lord Raul Menendez. Woods is still assisting the CIA and even has a protege, Troy Marshall. Together, the two work alongside another character making her debut, CIA handler Jane Harrow. As they unravel the conspiracy, tech genius Felix Neumann and assassin Sevati Dumas are brought on to round out their compact team.

Black Ops 6 will also introduce 12 new multiplayer maps – 12 Core 6v6 maps and four small-sized Strike maps – and will see the Round-Based Zombies mode return. The developers also say they’ve innovated multiplayer gameplay, operators and overall movement throughout the game.

Check out the action-packed trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 above. The game is out on Xbox and PlayStation on October 25.
