JW Anderson Drops £750 FW23 Frog Clutch Bag

Jonathan Anderson is at the height of his game, using both LOEWE and his eponymous House JW Anderson to continuously push the boundaries when it comes to forward-thinking designs. For example, the recent LOEWE SS24 runway show presented familiar wardrobe essentials twisted and tweaked to fit awkwardly, all while being covered in sparking crystals. Likewise, he manipulated movement and hid complexity in plain sight for JW Anderson SS24. It’s nothing new for one of the UK’s greatest talents, who now follows up on his Wellipets frog clog collaboration and the divisive TikTok-viral Pigeon Clutch Bag with another playful offering: the Frog Clutch Bag.
First seen during JW Anderson’s FW23 runway show in Milan this January, the Frog Clutch Bag is designed to be the Pigeon’s best friend. Together, they see the designer explore 3D printing technology in order to create these hyper-realistic accessories, and it could be said that the frog is even more lifelike than its wing-bearing counterpart.
Here, shades of green and yellow combine for an airbrushed-looking effect, while two beady yellow eyes like those found on the Wellipets are found up top. On the underside of the frog is its mouth, which opens to reveal a red-painted cavity where you can store your essentials.
Magnets fasten the mouth shut, while an embossed logo reminds you of the designer responsible for making this creation — although, it’s evidential by now that only Jonathan Anderson is pushing the boat in a way such as this.
