The Weeknd has officially released his new tribute single “Hong Kong (feat. 王菲季候風)”, offering a love letter to the city as he wraps up a four-night stadium residency at Kai Tak Stadium. Built on the original music and Cantonese vocal tracks of Faye Wong’s 1993 Cantopop hit “Monsoon (季候風)”, the track arrives during the historic final chapter of his worldwide stadium tour.
First performed live on October 24 to open his Hong Kong tour dates, the single reflects the Canadian superstar’s longstanding appreciation for Cantopop and the cinematic works of director Wong Kar-wai. Connecting the release directly to that visual lineage, the single’s artwork features an archival photograph of Hong Kong sourced from the private collection of cinematographer Christopher Doyle, who filmed Wong Kar-wai’s Chungking Express starring Faye Wong alongside Tony Leung.
The live concert debut immediately resonated across social platforms, where an Instagram clip generated more than 18 million views and drove Faye Wong’s original 1993 song back onto streaming charts. Regional outlets reported that “Monsoon” climbed to No. 1 on the rising charts at QQ Music and NetEase Cloud Music, reached No. 3 on Apple Music China, entered the Top 10 on Spotify Hong Kong, and jumped 15 spots to No. 3 on Shazam China’s daily rankings, while hitting No. 1 on the Douyin Entertainment Chart.
The release coincides with the final stages of the After Hours Til Dawn Stadium Tour, which has officially become the highest-grossing tour ever by a male solo artist after generating over $1 billion USD in gross revenue and selling more than 7.5 million tickets since 2022. Having expanded its debut Asia leg from 11 to 17 shows, the tour concludes with two final nights in Kuala Lumpur on November 4 and 5.
The official release of The Weeknd’s new single “Hong Kong (feat. 王菲季候風)” is available now on streaming platforms across East and Southeast Asia.
