Summary
Alexandre Arnault has been officially appointed to Nike's board of directors
The LVMH executive previously held leadership roles at Moët Hennessy Tiffany & Co and Rimowa
The move comes as Nike faces financial headwinds and prepares to leave the S&P 100 index on September 21, 2026
Nike has officially appointed LVMH executive Alexandre Arnault to its board of directors. The strategic appointment comes as the sportswear giant navigates a challenging financial period, with company shares falling more than 40% in 2026.
Nike President and Chief Executive Elliott Hill highlighted Arnault’s extensive background across brand building, digital transformation, and product innovation as key assets for the company’s next phase of growth. Arnault, who has served as deputy chief executive of Moët Hennessy since February 2025 and previously led Rimowa and Tiffany & Co., joins a board that also includes former Apple CEO Tim Cook.
The executive addition coincides with major index changes for the sportswear manufacturer. Nike is set to be removed from the S&P 100 index next week, concluding an 18-year run on the blue-chip index that began in December 2008. The shift comes during the fifth consecutive year that Nike shares have experienced an annual drop.
Alexandre Arnault officially joins the Nike board of directors ahead of the company’s scheduled removal from the S&P 100 index on September 21, 2026.
