USM and Symbol Audio Open The Doors to a "Record Shop" in London
Complete with a vinyl collection, coffee shop, and DJ sets.
Swiss furniture favorite USM has transformed its London store into a record shop, filled with pieces from its Symbol Audio collaboration.
Installed as part of this week’s London Design Festival (which runs until Sunday, September 20) the “USM Record Store” takes over the Marylebone space, paying homage to the connection between design and music through talks, performances, and other activations.
Pieces from the existing Symbol collaboration, first launched in 2024, are dotted around – from record stands, to a DJ booth, and vinyl crates to display cabinets. “We’ve held USM in high-regard here at Symbol for a long time, not only for their incredible product, but the clarity of their vision for the world of furniture,” Walker Tovin, Symbol’s brand director said at the time of the first launch. “The opportunity to work with their legendary catalog of components has been an exciting privilege that we’ve enjoyed from start to finish.”
In addition, the newest pieces from the collection, which launched in the US earlier this year, will be presented in the UK for the first time. These come in the form of Speaker Module, which are designed to intergrate with the wider system.
All of this takes place within the context of a working record shop, which has been curated in collaboration with The Vinyl Factory, where visitors will be able to look through a wide collection of new and old vinyl, while grabbing a coffee (from a bespoke USM coffee bar, of course) from local roaster Origin.
USM X Symbol Audio’s Record Shop is on view during London Design Festival 2026, and was one of our must-see selections for the week. Check the rest out here. It will remain open until October 1.
