The Pokémon Company has officially previewed Pokémon Pokopia, a genre-bending life simulation title set to launch on March 5, 2026. Breaking away from the franchise’s core RPG battle mechanics, this new entry tasks players with cultivating a “cozy utopia” on the Nintendo Switch 2, placing a human-mimicking Ditto at the center of the narrative.
Developed in collaboration with Koei Tecmo and Omega Force—studios typically known for the action-heavy Warriors franchise—Pokopia offers a distinct change of pace. The gameplay loop focuses on “creation over combat,” requiring players to gather resources, craft furniture, and restore abandoned islands. According to preview details, the protagonist is a Ditto who has adopted a human form, working alongside a cast of unique Pokémon variants to revitalize the environment.
The title introduces specific regional twists on classic creatures, including “Professor Tangrowth,” a “Mosslax” (a moss-covered Snorlax), and “Peakychu,” a pale, droopy-eared Pikachu variant. Mechanics emphasize social interaction and habitat construction; players must clear debris, plant crops, and design spaces that attract specific Pokémon to their settlements. The game supports up to four players in co-op, allowing for shared town-building and digital creative expression.
Pokémon Pokopia is scheduled for a global release on March 5, 2026. Pre-orders are open now via the Nintendo eShop and select retailers, with early purchasers receiving exclusive in-game decor items.
