Speaking at the annual Academy Awards luncheon in Los Angeles, the veteran producer ended months of speculation regarding the future of the Apple Original Films franchise.
In an interview with the BBC, Bruckheimer stated plainly, “We’re working on a sequel.” While he declined to provide a concrete production timeline or confirm if Brad Pitt would reprise his role as veteran driver Sonny Hayes, he emphasized that the actor would “of course” be involved in casting decisions. Bruckheimer reflected on the original film’s path to success, noting, “It was a long journey to get the movie made because we had to endure a couple of strikes – but in the end, the movie entertained audiences around the world.”
