Studio Nicholson and POTR Yoshida & Co. Highlight the Luxury Qualities of Japanese Nylon
Featuring three different styles handmade in Japan from high-density nylon.
Japanese denim is well known for its luxury quality, but YOSHIDA & Co. and Studio Nicholson want to highlight the lesser-known attributes of Japanese nylon. The British apparel label has unveiled an inaugural collaboration with YOSHIDA & Co.’s POTR line featuring three different products handcrafted from luxury Japanese nylon and elegantly cast in Studio Nicholson’s signature Darkest Navy color.
The collection is led by the roomy Bonsac shoulder bag, demonstrating the thoughtful approach of the capsule. All the pieces, including the smaller messenger bag and the key pouch, are discreetly branded with monochromatic logos and boast concealed stitches to spotlight the durable nylon used for the collection. For a luxurious detail, premium tanned cowhide leather adorns the zip pulls.
Nick Wakeman, Founder & Creative Director of Studio Nicholson, emphasized the fabrication, saying “It is a really, really special material that is neither black, gray or navy, making it extremely versatile and the perfect accessory for any daily outfit,” in a statement. 100% recycled high-density taffeta nylon boasts a matte washed look and is salt-treated to create a fluorine-free, water-repellent finish. The fabrics are made with a three-layer bonding and polyester padding, while the inner lining is supported by 70D durable ripstop.
The Studio Nicholson x POTR collection will be available on May 1 at the Studio Nicholson web store and in-store globally at Studio Nicholson and Porter Yoshida & Co. stores including in the UK, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Dover Street Market Ginza.
