Breguet Celebrates 250 Years of Watchmaking with the Classique Souscription 2025 Limited Edition

Breguet is celebrating its 250th anniversary with the launch of the Classique Souscription 2025 wristwatch — a special limited-edition that pays homage to the revolutionary Souscription pocket watch designed by Abraham-Louis Breguet over two centuries ago. Central to this release is the introduction of Breguet gold, a bespoke alloy combining 18k gold, silver, copper and palladium.

The wristwatch now features a 40mm case size, redesigned for contemporary preferences while maintaining the essence of the original pocket watch. At its center is a flame-blued steel Breguet hand that rests above Breguet Arabic numerals and a refined chemin de fer minute track. Like all Breguet releases, the time-teller comes with a secret “Souscription” inscription discreetly engraved onto the dial — a hallmark of authenticity that guards against counterfeiting.

At its core, the timepiece is powered by the VS00 manual-winding caliber, offering 96 hours of running time at 21,600 vibrations per hour. The movement showcases intricate decorations, including the Quai de l’Horloge guilloché pattern inspired by Parisian architecture, blued steel screws, rubies and a ratchet wheel engraved with A.-L. Breguet’s original advertising text. These features underline Breguet’s mastery in horological artistry, making the watch a symbolic blend of heritage and modernity.
