Lorde is back with the announcement of her newest single, “What Was That.”

The Kiwi artist shared the news on Instagram but did not close the official release date. She simply wrote “Out soon” with an accompanying image of what’s believed to be the cover art. Last week, she made her first ever TikTok post and teased an unreleased song with the lyrics “Since I was 17, I gave you everything / Now we wake from a dream, well baby, what was that? / What was that?”

“What Was That” is set to mark Lorde’s first solo release in four years, following her third studio album Solar Power. Her 2021 record featured no guests appearance and was primarily produced by Jack Antonoff and the artist herself. It went to peak at No. 5 on the Billboard 200.

Check out the announcement below and stay tuned for the release date.
