Japanese label Soshiotsuki by Soshi Otsuki has unveiled a first-time collaboration with Spanish retailer ZARA. Titled “A Sense of Togetherness,” the collection reconstructs universal themes of family connection across generations and introduces Soshiotsuki’s first-ever women’s and children’s lines.
Drawing inspiration from ‘baburu keiki’ (Japan’s mid-’80s economic boom), the label evokes a period when Italian style dominated Japanese menswear, popularizing labels like Giorgio Armani. His tailored silhouettes have been described as “Made in Japan filtered through the lens of Made in Italy.”
The designer’s distinct vision combines Western sartorial sensibilities with contemporary styles like overshirts and cargo pants. Shirting and blazers are updated with a Japanese touch via tie closures inspired by traditional styles of dress. Ideal for the wintertime, thermals and knitted sweaters, and cardigans give the lineup a cozy feel. The debut women’s collection reinterprets tailoring with flowing silhouettes and soft proportions, featuring styles that add a contemporary edge to vintage-inspired styles.
Otsuki expressed a deliberate use of formal materials for casual items, “I paid close attention to the balance of the tailoring and the details of the construction,” he said in a statement. “By collaborating with ZARA, we were able to broaden the range of expression that SOSHIOTSUKI could not have achieved on its own.”
The brand is increasingly making waves in the industry, having won a 2025 LVMH Prize and being named a Pitti Uomo 109 guest designer — two major accolades for the 10-year-old Tokyo label. Taking place in January 2026, Soshiotsuki is poised to present a new collection in a matter of weeks.
The Soshiotsuki x ZARA collection drops on December 4 via Zara Japan.
