  • The twelve-track cut is accompanied by a Tiny Desk Concert with NPR, featuring new and classic tracks

Tame Impala, the one-man musical army led by Kevin Parker, just released his fifth studio album, Deadbeat. The project follows 2020’s The Slow Rush and sees the artist embrace a different direction.

Deadbeat is a 12-track, 56-minute exploration of a new era, fusing electronic and dance influences with Tame Impala’s ethereal vocals. The album is Parker’s first since becoming a father in 2021, prompting a fresh viewpoint for his poignant lyricism. Absent of any features, the work instead progresses through distinct soundscapes, from the haunting tempo of “Dracula” to the harsh rhythm of “Ethereal Connection.”

A Tame Impala Tiny Desk (Home) Concert took place during the pandemic in 2020 and now a second edition for the series has been produced, this time shot at NPR’s iconic space. The four tracks performed include “Borderline,” “Loser,” “Dracula,” and “New Person, Same Old Mistakes.”
