Check Out Another fragment design x Air Jordan 3 Sample
Sporting a color scheme opposite of the duo’s 2020 release.
2025 marks five years since Hiroshi Fujiwara‘s fragment design teamed up with Jordan Brand to drop a collaborative take on the Air Jordan 3. The pair, presented in white with black contrast at the mudguard, sported fragment design’s thunderbolt logo at both the rear of the lateral and the transparent heel, which became known for yellowing due to oxidation over time. While only one pair ever released, several other samples were designed by the duo, including this pair from 2020 that flipped the retail pair’s color scheme.
Before the 2020 release was teased, Fujiwara flexed a blue, white and black colorway in 2019 and later showed off an all-gray version of the shoe. Adding to the list of unreleased AJ3s from the duo, we have a detailed look at a black and white version of the 2020 pair. This inverted arrangement is rather straightforward in its differences — instead of a white leather upper, it appears in black while the mudguard has been swapped from black to white. Where the shoe stands out most is the heel — the clear heel tab with layered branding has been replaced by the traditional Nike Air branding present atop a black tab.
Given that we’re approaching five years since this pair was assembled, it’s unlikely to ever land on shelves. However, stay tuned for more fragment design x Jordan Brand collaborations as the duo are expected to play a notable role in the Air Jordan 1’s 40th anniversary celebration.
