C2H4® Meets G-SHOCK for a Space-Age-Inspired GM-5600 Watch Collaboration
Packaged in a special case reminiscent of the ATC Genie Telephone.
C2H4® and G-SHOCK have teamed up for a retro-futuristic collaboration featuring a GM-5600 wristwatch. Drawing inspiration from Space Age aesthetics, from the packaging to the timepiece itself, the collaboration puts emphasis on streamlined shapes, innovative materials and a minimalistic palette.
Dressed in a mirror-finished metal frame, the timepiece features LAX’s Theme Building as a pattern on its backlight — a nod to the iconic structure from the heyday of the Space Age. The dial is reimagined with a grid-like pattern, accented with a red outline that makes the watch face pop. Meanwhile, the strap comes in a translucent materiality and is adorned with dotted red stripes all-around.
Continuing the Space Age theme, the timepiece comes encased in special box packaging. At first glance, the packaging’s off-white and red ovoid form appears to resemble some kind of Sci-Fi space capsule. But in a freshly dropped teaser, it’s revealed that the real inspiration came from the ATC Genie Telephone. Echoing the Theme Building motif on the watch face, the very same pattern is also engraved onto the capsule.
The GM-5600 Space Age Edition will launch via C2H4® and G-SHOCK’s official webstores on January 9. Starting January 11, the collaboration will also be available through select G-SHOCK offline stores.
