Vince Carter is cementing himself in NBA history. Following the announcement earlier this spring that he will be joining the Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2024, Carter will also have his jersey retired in two arenas this season.

Set to be inducted into the Hall of Fame next month, Carter will also have his jersey hanging from the rafters by the Toronto Raptors. The ceremony will take place on November 2 when the Raptors face the Atlanta Hawks, making Carter the first player in the history of the Raptors’ franchise to have his number retired. Carter will also be receiving the same honor by the Brooklyn Nets, who also announced last week that his No. 15 jersey will hang on rafters on January 25 when the Nets face-off against the Miami Heat.

Over the course of his 22-year long NBA career, Carter was an eight-time All-Star, two-time All-NBA selection, the 1999 Rookie of the Year and 2000 slam dunk contest champion. He played 1,541 games, which is the third most in the history of the league following fellow Hall of Famers Robert Parish and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. He is also the only basketball player to appear in four different decades in his NBA career. His time with the Raptors spanned five-and-a-half seasons. It was there that he was dubbed “Air Canada” and led the Raptors to their first postseason appearance in 2000 and their first playoff series victory in 2001. He was later traded to the then-New Jersey Nets in 2004.
