Check Out This Contemporary Jazz Club in Georgia’s Mountains
Housed within a lakeside resort in the mountains.
A new jazz club has opened its doors in the Kakheti region of eastern Georgia. Housed with the Lopota Lake Resort & Spa, a family-owned resort surrounded by the Caucasus Mountains, the club was a project years in the making.
Goga Maisuradze, the late owner of Lopota, first ideated the jazz club and bar years ago. The vision has now been brought to life, helmed by David Koiava of the Georgian architecture firm Design Avenue Studio.
Koiava sought to have the building blend in with its natural surroundings, incorporating the colors of the mountains. The club is a two-story building largely constructed out of natural wood, concrete and stone. The structure features a rounded design and bold columns, between which are thin trees.
Near the front entrance to the club is an open-air atrium for the warmer months, while the inside is dim lit and cozy with shades of blue, brown and mustard. Up to 150 guests at a time can live music across two floors, both of which offer a clear view of the main stage.
“As Lopota is a resort catering to many families, my Father, Goga Maisuradze envisioned creating a space where the guests could unwind until late in the night, to preserve tranquility at the property for the adults visiting,” Lopota owner Ana Maisuradze said. “It is also important to note that this is the first jazz club in Georgia in regards to the visual, concept and space, because in Georgia one usually finds underground jazz clubs”.
