The Alchemist Drops Off 'The Genuine Articulate'
With assistance from Larry June, Action Bronson and others.
After offering his production hand to a slate of albums so far this year – including Black & Whites with Big Hit and Hit-Boy and Heads I Win, Tails You Lost alongside Gangrene and Oh No – The Alchemist has unleashed his first solo studio release of 2024. Named The Genuine Articulate, Alc’s first project of the year finds the rapper doing the producing and the rapping on most of the tracks, elevated by features from the multifaceted musician’s usual suspects: Conway the Machine and Larry June included.
Just eight tracks, The Genuine Articulate also sees contributions from ScHoolboy Q on “Ferraris in the Rain” – the only single to drop before the album in full – Action Bronson and Big Body Bes on “Minnesota Fats” and Havoc on “Scientology.”
“The only one who stood in the wreckage when the dust settled (I was right there) / You lay a hand on me and get infected from the rust metal / Dinner plates jumbo with the bags mixed, I’m makin’ gumbo / I’m everybody’s favorite uncle,” he spits on a solo offering “Everybody’s Favorite Uncle.”
In the weeks leading up to The Genuine Articulate‘s drop, Alc contributed to Big Sean‘s “Together Forever” and A$AP Rocky and J. Cole‘s “Ruby Rosary.”
