Fendi SS25 Celebrates 100 Years in Business
Designer Kim Jones highlighted all of the Fendi women that played a role in the House’s centennial milestone.
The Spring/Summer 2025 season is an especially important one for Fendi; the upcoming warmer months will usher in the Kim Jones and Silvia Venturini Fendi-led fashion house’s 100th year in business. In light of the monumental milestone, Jones, who leads the label’s womenswear division, was tasked with toasting the brand’s achievement, and he did so with references to its strong family unit.
At the show, Venturini Fendi spoke with her mother, Anna, about the House’s early beginnings over the speakers. (Notably, Venturini Fendi’s grandmother, Adele, cut the ribbon on Fendi’s inaugural store in 1925.) Anna touchingly recited some of Adele’s wisdom: “You are like a hand. There are five of you, the fingers. They are different from each other, they are complementary to each other,” she remembered Adele telling her and her four sisters, per Vogue. Today, the statement is a testament to the brand’s powerful genetics: Venturini Fendi runs menswear, childrenswear and accessories, and her daughter, Delfina, who leads jewelry, is Jones’ muse.
Within Fendi’s hereditary arc, Jones created something of a highlight reel for the label’s beloved shapes. Lightweight dresses boasted royal prints across the torso; fringe detailed the ends of feminine tops; opulent decals made statements out of fraglie textiles; sheer shirting left the female form on display, and Baguette bags arrived in legions. It was a fashionable celebration of womanhood, the root of Fendi’s centennial success.
