Collina Strada SS25 Reminds Us – Now, More than Ever - To Touch Grass
Hillary Taymour *is* Mother Earth, delivering another immersively flowy, floral and feminine collection – complete with guest appearances from Mara Hoffman and The Green Lady of Brooklyn.
For thirty minutes in the East Village’s Marble Cemetery, the perils of the outside world didn’t exist and, instead, all eyes were on the captivating, colorful and climate-conscious Collina Strada Spring/Summer 2025 showcase.
“You know the meme, ‘touch grass?’ The world feels like a battlefield in so many ways right now and I think we can all reconnect and find that peaceful center by touching grass,” explained Creative Director Hillary Taymour – who tapped directly into the relatable and more relevant-than-ever-before meme to inform the label’s latest collection.
“The concept of ‘Mother Earth’ was a big inspiration,” continues Taymour, who envisioned a flowy, floral presentation of femininity across all aspects of the show.
As a range of light, airy pieces fluttered down the runway, the backing soundtrack took the world to a whole new level as the lyrics of classic The Chords single “Sh-Boom” reimagined as “Life could be green,” a tuned-up remix of the Beach Boy’s “Vegetables” and an original “World of Collina Strada” song played.
Cameos came from local icon, The Green Lady of Brooklyn, as well as fellow sustainability advocate Mara Hoffman.
As always with Taymour, the devil is in the details; some models donned floor-length hair with green tips, while others had grass clippings stuck to their ankles. Footwear included an imminent Puma sneaker collab – likely dropping sometime next spring – adorned with flower cutouts, turf-covered Sperry Topsiders and the first-ever in-line Collina Strada sneaker boot.
“I wanted to reduce the noise of all the news and speak with quiet confidence. This collection embodies that vision—toned down yet dressed up. Demure yet mindful,” Taymour continued.
“With all the heavy headlines, a fashion show can feel as insignificant as a single blade of grass in a big-ass lawn. But when these single, simple joys—a floppy hat, fluttering sleeves, breeze in the trees—all come together, they create something vital: a beautiful, lush, and flourishing meadow. This show is our little thicket. It’s a reminder to escape the distractions sprouting from our phones and reconnect with what really matters. Ground yourself. Touch grass.”
