Stone Island and New Balance Officially Unveil the 991v2 "Ghost" Collection
The capsule draws its inspiration from Stone Island’s monochromatic “Ghost” line.
Update: After an early leaker’s look at the Stone Island x New Balance 991v2 collection surfaced earlier this month, the three collaborative shoes have been officially revealed — and their inspiration explained. Dubbed the “Ghost” collection, the trio offerings are inspired by Stone Island’s own Ghost pieces: monochromatic garments that derive their inspiration from the concept of camouflage.
Check out the Liam McRae-shot lookbook above, read the original story and previous updates below for more info and expect the collection to touch down at the Stone Island webstore and the brand’s retail stores September 26.
Update: Word of Stone Island reconnecting with New Balance this season hit the net last week and was followed by a leak of the duo’s project just moments later. Now, we have a preview of all three rumored Stone Island x New Balance 991v2s. In addition to the previously discussed gray colorway, monochromatic finishes in olive and black have been assembled as well. While we lack a complete visual breakdown of the kicks, it’s worth noting that each pair does sport a semi-translucent outsole. Stay tuned for release details as we expect pairs to drop soon via New Balance, Stone Island and select retailers.

Update: On top of Stone Island dropping a teaser for its upcoming New Balance project, we now have an initial preview of what to expect from the duo this time around. The pairing has assembled a monochromatic gray take on the MADE in UK’s 991v2 with two other colorways of black and green rumored to release as well. Looking closer at the sneaker, it sports its standard mixed material build while Stone Island’s iconic badge appears at the tongue. Stay tuned for a complete preview of the kicks as we expect the sneaker to drop at some point in the coming months.
Original Story: Stone Island has returned to tease yet another collaboration with New Balance.
The two brands first partnered in 2021, offering a refresher on the RC Elite running shoe in 2022. The release was developed by Stone Island’s creative team and Tokyo Design Studio, New Balance’s product innovation hub, which is based both in Tokyo and at the brand’s headquarters in Boston.
Last fall, they introduced a black and olive color palette to New Balance’s 991v2. Earlier this summer, Stone Island debuted two new colorways for the New Balance 574 in “Light Green” and “Dark Green” shades.
Its latest teaser pasted the Stone Island and New Balance brand logos over imagery of trucks, including a photo of a man pulling along the truck with his own body.
