In a world of endless leaks, Nike has found a new way to combat its footwear plans being shared before it has the chance to by introducing the annual SNKRS Showcase series. Debuting last October, a myriad of in-line launches were revealed, which we have continued to cover throughout 2024. Running with this success, a second stream arrived this June and highlighted another batch of exciting drops, including the return of the Nike Gato.
The Gato, having been introduced in 2010 as a futsal (a form of indoor soccer) shoe, was revisited by the Nike SB team and featured in a Supreme collaboration in 2018. Now, it is returning, sans the SB label, as soccer-inspired silhouettes continue to thrive. Four colorways of white, gray, maroon and green were all teased back in June and we now have an official look at the “White Gum” pair. A white textile base is joined by white leather overlays and a gray suede overlay at the toe. From there, the Cushlon-backed sole unit pairs a white midsole with a gum outsole.
At the time of writing, Nike has only indicated that the Gato will be returning this holiday season, likely via Nike SNKRS and select retailers at a starting price of $110 USD.
