Johnnie Walker Presents ‘Ruby Dreams’ to Celebrate Launch of New Black Ruby Whisky
Step into the edge of the night with Johnnie Walker Black Ruby at Newtown’s Pleasure Club, featuring Vera Blue, Sarah Ellen and Porcelain Alice.
Ruby Dreams marks the launch of Johnnie Walker’s new Black Ruby Whisky, a contemporary new expression that amplifies the fruitiest notes of Johnnie Walker and brings experimentation and attitude to the art of whisky-making.
The result is a tantalising, delicious new Scotch that pushes indulgently sweet and smooth flavour notes to centre stage. The event will celebrate Johnnie Walker Black Ruby with the perfect blend of music, performance art, and delicious cocktails.
Taking place from Wednesday 14th to Sunday 18th August, Ruby Dreams will feature an exciting roster of entertainment. From Thursday, singer-songwriter, Vera Blue, will take the stage for multiple exclusive sets, showcasing her ‘Sensorial’ performance format that reimagines her most popular songs and gives a sneak peek of new music. Best of all, entrance is free, so anyone can come along.
“Fans are in for a surprise,” Vera commented on the residency. “It’s truly like nothing else I’ve performed before. I can’t wait to take the audience on a multi-sensory experience.”

Next in the residency line-up, Aussie fashion and creative “it” girl Sarah Ellen will debut her new band ‘Pamela’ with its first-ever performance on Wednesday 14th, and burlesque performer Porcelain Alice will perform her most daring show yet across three nights, inspired by the dark fruits and sumptuous whisky tasting notes of Johnnie Walker Black Ruby. Throughout the week, Pleasure Club will also feature a curated venue jukebox takeover.
Pleasure Club’s infamous cocktail list will also transform to complement the residency performances. Australia’s recent Diageo World Class winner, Jake Down, will craft a menu of cocktails throughout the week featuring Johnnie Walker Black Ruby. The cocktails on offer will include the Ruby Fantasy, a blend of Johnnie Walker Black Ruby, strawberry, vanilla, fizz; Ruby Dream with whisky, watermelon, and vermouth; Ruby Delight with whisky, raspberry, white chocolate and rose; and Ruby Lassi with whisky, rhubarb, cinnamon, ginger, and cream.
Crafted by Master Blender Dr. Emma Walker, the new Johnnie Walker Black Ruby Whisky brings the sweet and smooth notes of Black Label to a new generation of whisky lovers. It aims to bring the attitude back to the art of whisky-making, pushing Black Label’s sweetest and smoothest notes to the centre of the flavour.
Ruby Dreams will take place from 8pm on Wednesday 14th, and from 4pm until Sunday 18th, with entrance to Pleasure Club on a first-come-first-served basis.
