Armand Duplantis Debuts the OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra “Ultra Light” at the Olympic Games
All the while setting a new world pole vault world record.
Yesterday at the Paris 2024 Olympics, Armand “Mondo” Duplantis successfully defended his Olympic title. Not only did the 24-year-old Swedish athlete take home another gold medal, surpassing his previous record, but also set a new pole vault world record of 6.25 meters. As many people had their eyes glued to Duplantis’s physique during his jump attempts, horophiles may have their sights set on somewhere else — his left wrist.
What Duplantis had on his wrist was a brand-new Seamaster Aqua Terra 150m model, a timepiece that only became available on OMEGA after the event. Dubbed the “Ultra Light,” the timepiece arrives in a 41mm sandblasted Gamma Titanium case, accompanied by a sandblasted silicon nitride bezel ring. Its blue anodized dial also boasts titanium materiality and is embellished with blackened, lume-filled handset and hour-markers.
Yellow accents are imbued onto the reference for a bold and eye-catching effect. These can be spotted on the Seamaster lettering, central second hand, OMEGA logo on the crown to the strap and topstitching. The vivid color palette is a direct reference to the national flag of Sweden as well as the kit that Duplantis sported during the event.
Viewable through the open caseback, the manual-winding Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8928 Ti provides 72 hours of power reserve. The timepiece comes encased in a special zipper presentation case that’s imprinted with Armand Duplantis’ name.
The Seamaster Aqua Terra “Ultra Light” retails for $51,300 USD and is currently available for inquiry through OMEGA’s website and boutiques.
