Update: Over half a year after being rumored, we now have a first look at the return of the Air Jordan 5 “Grape.” The throwback look last dropped in 2013 and is now returning with OG Nike Air branding at the heel. This initial preview of the pair confirms that it will stay true to the original with its “White,” “Grape Ice” and “New Emerald” color scheme present across the sneaker. Release is now set to take place on April 19 via Nike SNKRS and select retailers at a starting price of $210 USD.

Original Story: 2025 marks the 35th anniversary of the Air Jordan 5, and Jordan Brand may be pulling the heavy hitters out of the archive in celebration: early reports state that the Air Jordan 5 “Grape” will be returning. First released as one of four original Air Jordan 5 colorways in 1990, the “Grape” quickly became an early ’90s pop culture icon upon release thanks to Will Smith sporting it in the intro to — and several episodes of – The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and Michael Jordan himself donning it on the cover of a Wheaties box.

The news, first reported by Sneaker Files and zsneakerheadz, means that the “Grape” will be making its fourth arrival on shelves, and, per their reporting, this iteration will feature the most true-to-the-original shape yet, plus OG Nike Air branding on the heel. After its inaugural release, the “Grape” was retroed for the first time in 2006 as part of Jordan Brand’s LS (lifestyle) series, then again in 2013. There was also a “Fresh Prince” iteration that dropped in 2018 to celebrate Will Smith’s 50th birthday, which discarded laces in favor of an elastic collar to salute how Smith wore his pair in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Besides those releases, the “Grape” has also served as inspiration for a “Black Grape” colorway in 2013 and an “Alternate Grape” makeup in 2020, not to mention a golf-centric 2020 “Black Grape” release as well.

An official date of arrival for the Air Jordan 5 “Grape” has yet to be revealed, but it’ll supposedly touch down as part of Jordan Brand’s summer 2025 line. Information on pricing is forthcoming too, but the 2025 “Grape” will likely retail for around $220 USD. Stay tuned for further updates as they’re made available.
