Raveena will be coming out with another album, two years after her sophomore LP Asha’s Awakening. Blending pop, R&B and indie sounds, the Indian-Punjabi-American singer has been lauded for her thoughtfully poetic lyrics, which often draw from her relationship with spirituality.
The third album is called Where the Butterflies Go in the Rain and based on the title alone, it seems Raveena will once again lead with a uniquely delicate style of lyricism.
“Butterflies are so delicate that they have to hide in leaves and flowers until the rain passes so that their wings don’t get crushed in the rain,” she said. “I felt like that was kind of a metaphor for where I was in my life. I needed to go back to comfort — to deep rest — and stop weathering storms.”
Along with announcing the album, Raveena has released the single and music video for “Lucky,” exploring themes of love, tenderness and femininity.
“Baby let me be your escape / From the world,” she sings. “My feminine love / Can heal all the hurt.”
