Jake Gyllenhaal Is a Prosecutor Accused of Murder in Apple TV’s ‘Presumed Innocent’

Jake Gyllenhaal stars in a new drama series coming out of Apple TV, Presumed Innocent. The actor portrays Rusty Sabich, a Chicago prosecutor working in the district attorney’s office, whose life is upended when his colleague Carolyn (Renate Reinsve) is found murdered in her apartment.
Sabich is assigned to the investigation but after his fingerprints are found in the victim’s bedroom, revealing his affair with her, he’s ultimately accused of killing her.
“I was basically stalking her,” Rusty admits, as it comes out that he had texted the victim 30 times on the evening of her death.
Presumed Innocent is based on Scott Turow’s 1987 novel of the same name. The book was adapted into a movie in 1990 starring Harrison Ford.
Rounding out the cast for the limited series is Ruth Negga, Bill Camp, O-T Fagbenle, Chase Infiniti, Elizabeth Marvel, Nana Mensah, Peter Sarsgaard and Kingston Rumi Southwick. J.J. Abrams is executive producing.
